From S1 onwards, pupils will build upon the foundational skills they have developed, extending their ability to understand and engage with writing analytically. These skills are further nurtured into the Senior phase with a progression through to our Advanced Higher course.

English is available at National 4, National 5 and Higher – with the opportunity for Advanced Higher in S6 depending on demand. 

These courses endeavour to build on the skills developed throughout the Broad General Education, namely the foundational aspects of Literacy: Reading, Writing, Listening and Talking. In the Senior Phase, 

English focuses on developing the knowledge and understanding of increasingly complex texts, as well as giving pupils the opportunities to demonstrate their own writing skills, through creative or persuasive means.
