Hello Valor Family! With the year starting some changes have been put into place. One of the changes is that the yearbook will be run by students taking the new journalism class this year. Some important information to note about the new yearbook this year:
The yearbook is 10% off until September 30th. Pre-order at www.treering.com. The passcode to buy the yearbook through Treering is: 1015196645893006.
As always, every family gets two free custom pages with the option to add additional spreads at 99 cents each. This is a great way to document home days and other activities.

We would love for you to join us at our first Traditions Quarterly Meeting! Come hear about upcoming traditions & events this semester at Valor and how you can be involved. You will need to check in at the main office before coming over to St. Matthews. We hope to see you then!
If you can't attend this first meeting, but would love to hear more about opportunities to volunteer this fall, please email traditions@valorprep.com.
Wednesday, September 18
St. Matthew's Chapel (next door to Valor!)
9:30-10:30am
Our health screenings are coming up September 23rd, 25th, 27th and 30th and we need a few parent volunteers to assist our screeners and help students get back and forth to the screening location. If you are willing and able to volunteer at any point during those days, please sign up here for a time slot or two! Please contact Bethany Brown with any questions. Thank you!
In additional to two recesses a day, our Grammar School classrooms take movement breaks throughout the day and in between subjects. On Monday, we will also welcome our new, on-site Baylor Occupational Therapy intern. Do you incorporate structured movement during your homedays? Watch this training video from Kari McKown to learn about the brain benefits, and then make a practical plan to get moving!
Thank you to all our parents who came out for academic training. The break-out sessions were a great success, and most co-teachers expressed that waiting until a few weeks into school was just what they needed to feel successful. What future sessions would you like to see more of? Do you have any feedback about Grammar School curriculum or Home Assignment Sheets? email brooke.ramsey@valorprep. We'd love to hear from you!
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: We are discontinuing the separate 5th-grade drop-off at St. Matthews. Please go through the normal Grammar School drop-off line, and your student will be escorted across to their classes. Thank you!
Last week, the Grammar School finished reviewing our Grammar School values, and one of them is "At Valor, we value excellence...our very BEST!" It's true. We value nice, neat handwriting, perseverance when problems are hard, and personal responsibility for our choices. But, equally so, is the truth of the phrase "We do our best and leave the REST." As Head of the Grammar School, I am known for saying this to more than just students! Like the Serenity Prayer, it's a helpful reminder for all of us, whether teacher, administrative staff, or co-teachers. There are many things we CAN change, but some we can't. Knowing the line between them makes all the difference for the peace of our hearts and homes. -Mrs. Ramsey
