ANNOUNCEMENTS:
A reminder about Chapel Dress
Students wear Chapel Dress every Wednesday in the Rhetoric School. Parents, please partner with us in helping your student choose the correct uniform on Wednesdays. Gentlemen should wear their white Valor polo with their navy blue Lands End shorts with a belt. Also, Valor polos are worn tucked in. Ladies should either wear their Valor dress in navy or grey, or their plaid skirt with a white top.
Attention parents of Year 9 students
Please partner with us in helping your student use his or her TR study halls to their fullest. Your student has two 45-minute study halls on Tuesdays and Thursdays – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Frequently, students report to us that they have no assignments to complete – until they clarify that they do have homework, but they don’t have the right books or class folders with them. Would you help your student think ahead and pack the materials they need to use their study halls effectively? Thank you!
Howdy Homecoming Dance
The Howdy Homecoming dance is Saturday, October 4th, from 7:30-10:00 pm. Tickets are now on sale for $15, and you may purchase tickets from the Valor Spirit Shop at www.valorspiritshop.com.
Parents of Year 10 and Year 11 student-athletes who play football or cheer
Kirsten Escobar is waiting to hear from you about your child’s PSAT schedule. The deadline to email her is Wednesday, October 8th.
The half-day on Friday, October 10th, coincides with the last class day of Quarter 1.
Teachers are giving summative assessments this last week of the quarter and/or have deadlines for out-of-class work such as papers and projects. If your student will miss school on 10/10 as we begin Valor Fall Break, he or she must complete tests and submit all assignments before Friday. Please have your student communicate with his or her teachers now so that they can make arrangements for your student’s absence.
PSAT and PSAT-NMSQT
Year 10 and Year 11 students will take the PSAT (10th grade) or PSAT-NMSQT (11th grade) on Saturday, October 18th. Please mark this testing date on your calendar, which is after the RS Retreat and the conclusion of Quarter 1, as this positions students to be rested and ready for this important standardized test.
HOT College Night
Baylor University will host the 2025 HOT College Night at the Hurd Welcome Center on Monday, October 20th, from 6:00-8:00 pm. More than 100 colleges will send admissions counselors to meet with students during this event–right here in Waco!
