Dear Valor Parents,
The most important season of the church calendar is upon us, Lent. Traditionally, the 40 days leading up to Easter was a time of repentance, renewal, and baptism--a time to examine our hearts, minds, and lives and ask the Lord to make them ready for more of Him.
This week in chapel, Margot Fish, a graduating senior, came to speak about the meaning of Lent to our Grammar School. She asked two volunteers to come up and whisper the same word, one while the whole audience was talking, and one while we were silent. Guess which volunteer we heard? The one when it was quiet! She said that's what Lent was about, slowing down and clearing out clutter from the world and our own desires so we can hear the voice of God's love.
That's my prayer for you this season! If your family is looking for fresh ways to encounter God during the next 40 days, try Lectio365's new Lenten video devotions, filmed in the Egyptian wilderness where the Desert Fathers and Mothers prayed from the 3rd and 4th centuries.
As always, I'd love to hear from you if you have any suggestions or concerns about your child's discipleship or education.
With joy,
Brooke Ramsey

Wow! The Speech & Music Meet was so wonderful. Thank you to all of the students that auditioned for the meet. The hard work and dedication was evident last Wednesday in our chapel. If your student didn't audition or wasn't old enough yet, we hope they were inspired to jump in next year!
Mrs. Nissen has accepted the role as our PK-12 Accommodations Coordinator for the upcoming 2026-2027 School Year. If you know Misty, you know that she will do amazing things in this role for our parents and students. If you see her, be sure to congratulate her on this milestone!
A note from Misty:
"I’m excited to transition into the role of Accommodations Coordinator next year. My professional background in both traditional classroom education and therapeutic and educational consulting has shaped my passion for supporting students through a strengths-based, Christ-centered approach—especially those with learning differences or other often-invisible challenges. I believe deeply in creating equitable access to education and in building strong support systems for students and their families. I deeply love working with our Valor teachers, staff, and families because I know we all share the firm belief that each child is a beautifully designed image-bearer who is worthy of our time, love, support, and discipleship. I’m grateful for the chance to serve in a way that reflects that truth and look forward to serving you in this new role."
This summer, 1 in 5 children in Waco may not know where their next meal is coming from, YOU can change that.
By joining the Hunger Hero Challenge, you’re helping Shepherd's Heart feed Waco's homeless and at‑risk children during the Summer months.
Last year, with the support from the Hunger Hero Challenge, Shepherd's Heart was able to serve 133,544 families — nearly 500,000 people — including 42,475 children through their school food programs.
These aren’t just numbers. They’re lives touched by the love of Christ — through your generosity.
Students can start bringing in non-perishable food items after Spring Break until Wednesday, April 1st!
Mrs. Thompson's class had the most students register for the Heart Challenge with 75% participation! They will win a free day in PE!
We had 15 students completed Finn's Mission and the will get to silly string Coach Franklin and Coach Perez! We will be sure to take pics and post them here later!
Please note the update to wording on the HAS for Nature:
Example:
Read the Activities 43 and/or 44 in Exploring Nature Activity Book for Kids for inspiration. Activities in the book are optional.
Go outside and enjoy nature for at least 15 minutes!
Use the next page of your Science notebook to draw what you noticed. Then, on the lines, in your best handwriting, write your own endings to the following sentences:
I notice…
I wonder…
This reminds me of…
Our students will be starting their units on recorder (3rd & 4th) and ukelele (5th) in music very soon. See the email from our office for timelines and details!
