Hey Valor family, in an attempt to raise some money for our Junior trip to Europe this spring, we are bringing back the ever-popular "free dress punch card" for a few dates in the spring. If your student would like to come in free dress (not in their uniform) on Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and senior's last day on campus -- buy a free dress card TODAY! We had our first day today, but if you'd like to participate in the next two days, cards are $15 each and all the money goes towards our student trips.
TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE for our 2nd Annual Boots & Bows Father/Daughter Dance at Old Bethany Events on Friday, February 21 at 6:30pm! Grab your gal(s) and join us for a night of fun, dancing, and sweets!
Valor students PK-6th grade are invited to attend! If you are parent to a 7th or 8th grade girl who would still like to attend this year, we invite you to join us and please use the link to register. Due to growth and capacity, we are slowly transitioning this dance to a GS event.
Buy your tickets HERE by TODAY - February 14!

St. Augustine's Confessions
This week, many of our Grammar School families turned out for prayer at our future Valor home. Please continue to pray for our Grammar school teachers and families to be empowered for their holy calling to partner for education as discipleship. Can I recommend an easy way to incorporate more prayer into your homedays--one that has immensely blessed my family and many others?
Check out Lectio 365, and consider adding it to your spiritual rhythms, especially as March 5th, the first day of Lent, approaches.
As the year progresses, please make sure your students abide by our uniform policy, including shoes and socks of Valor's school colors. Only Valor sweatshirts or Valor fleeces (not athletic hoodies) are permitted in the classroom or hallways.
Have you lost something? Please stop by and check the lost and found under the tables in the cafeteria!
If your student signed up to audition for the speech music meet, they are exempt from Quarter 3 presentations, but auditions are in a few weeks! If auditioning for a vocal or instrumental performance, please email a video audition to: Jennifer.Rucker@valorprep.com NO LATER than Tuesday, February 19th at 2pm. If auditioning for a narration or recitation piece, Mrs. Ramsey will pull them out of classes one-by-one on Friday, February 21st. Announcements will be made by end-of-day on Friday for those chosen to perform in the following chapel on February 26th.
Today, in your child’s backpack, Kinder - third grade students will find a copy of their Acadience Reading report. Acadience is a series of short tests to measure reading skills. Our K-3 classroom teachers administer Acadience three times each year. This report includes your child’s beginning of year and middle of year scores. Acadience reading reports are an important way for Valor to shape our classroom instruction and to measure each student’s academic progress.
Additionally, fourth and fifth grade students will find mid-year IXL reports. This program tailors lessons to meet the unique needs of every student, helping them build math skills at their own pace. We encourage you to support their continued progress by using IXL for at least 30 minutes each week and additional time if you are trying to catch up to grade level. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress, please feel free to reach out to their classroom teacher.

In Mrs. Amaitsa's physics class, the students observed types of energy and conservation of energy in the decomposition of a gummy bear.
Above: Mrs. Amaitsa and two students heated and liquefied potassium chlorate. Once liquefied, the flame was removed and the gummy bear was inserted.

Hello Valor Family! With the year starting some changes have been put into place. One of the changes is that the yearbook will be run by students taking the new journalism class this year. Some important information to note about the new yearbook this year:
Pre-order at www.treering.com. The passcode to buy the yearbook through Treering is: 1015196645893006.
As always, every family gets two free custom pages with the option to add additional spreads at 99 cents each. This is a great way to document home days and other activities.
