093.1 Live Sound Engineering, Advanced College Prep, Grades 9-12, Semester, 2.50 credits
This course introduces students to the basic skills and concepts of live sound engineering for concerts and live events. Students will learn how to mic vocalists and specific instruments, understand a variety of audio setups, and then learn the intricate skills of mixing on a digital and analog audio consoles. Specific skills include equalization, dynamics, microphone technique, and compression. Students will put their skills into practice running sound for school and town events in Swampscott High School's newly renovated auditorium. Students who pass this course will be certified to join the paid Swampscott A/V Crew as audio specialists.
This class satisfies one of the requirements for Media Arts Lab.
