811.1 AP 2-D Studio Art, Drawing  Grades 11 or 12, Full Year, 5.00 credits

The AP Studio Art Program consists of 2-D design, Photography, or Drawing portfolio exams, corresponding to the college foundation courses. Portfolios allow the flexibility of coursework while guiding students to produce college-level quality and artistic investigation. Students can focus on in-depth, inquiry-based art and design making; on a skillful synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas; and on articulating information about their work. The 2-D Design or Drawing portfolio addresses two-dimensional design issues and involves decision making about how to use the elements and principles of art in an integrative way. Students' portfolios demonstrate skills and ideas developed, refined, and applied throughout the course to produce visual compositions. The submitted portfolios submitted to the AP board are evaluated based on standardized scoring descriptors aligned with skills and understanding developed in college foundation courses. All students are required to submit a portfolio. College credit may be awarded with an AP score of 3 or higher. Students are encouraged to check individual college/university’s AP credit policy.

Prerequisite: Three of the following classes, Photography I or II or III,  Studio I, II III or IV Studio III, or Studio IV, Drawing I, Ceramics I or II or outside work with the approval of the teacher
