In this project, we were assigned to pick about 4-5 leaves, trace them, create a 1-inch border around our paper, and create an image using the negative space of our art. The negative space being the space around the traced leaves. The materials I used for my art were acrylic paint and a regular pencil. At first, I was going to try and make some city-like creation with the negative space, but then I thought I could use the leaves to act as literal leaves on trees, and then create a sunset look; so, I placed the leaves how they are purposeful. I added some clouds and little birds to make my art look more obvious on what the purpose of it was.
The elements of art I used were (obviously) negative space and positive space. I used the positive space of the leaves to create the main idea of my painting, and with that, it was a lot easier for me to create the image I had in my head.
I do like the idea I had for my art, I thought it was relatively a cool idea. I do wish I knew how to really blend acrylic paint colors because then I know for a fact the whole painting would've come out somewhat better. I only added the clouds to try and take away from the fact that I can't blend, even though I did try my best. I did a sunset not only because I thought it'd be cool but because I LOVE sunsets; they genuinely make me happy.
