Moon Walk

Acrylic Paint & Watercolors

9" x 9"

Artist Statement

For this project, my prompt was to draw a planet where people walk upside down. At first, I thought of creating a whole scene on a planet, but then I decided I didn't want to try and draw actual people; so I decided to put my effort into making a cool-looking planet instead.

The materials I used were watercolors, acrylic paint, and a paint pen. I used watercolors to create the planet, I like how I incorporated a little bit of red into the purple and blue; I feel it gives a little texture to it. I used black acrylic paint to create the background, I like creating black backgrounds for the majority of my artwork because I feel it makes the colors pop. I then used a white paint pen to draw the little stick figure people walking upside down and the stars.

The process I went through creating my piece was I did look up "watercolored planets" because at first, I was going to create a pink/red planet, but then decided I liked how the purple/blue looked more. I practiced blending the two colors on a separate piece of paper before going ahead with my final piece. I had my mind set on this idea because I haven't painted in a long time, so this project gave me an excuse to because I wanted to try it out.
