Artist Statement

In this project, we were assigned to create our blind contour drawings of our hands and faces into a completed piece of art. The materials I used for this project was a black sharpie, a normal pencil, watercolor paint, and acrylic paint. At first, I had a hard time thinking of what my original drawing looked like to me, but then I played around with some lines in pencil and started to see a duck and created my hands into grass as if the duck was eating the grass. At first, I had the little island the grass was on brown, but I didn't like that because I decided to add flowers to make my art more colorful and have something else going on. So, I used acrylic white paint to go over the brown, then added green watercolor, and then used acrylic paint to add the flowers.

The elements of art I used in my drawing/painting were color, lines, and a little bit of shape. I used different colors for the flowers to add more color, I added more lines to create my whole idea of my drawing, and I used a little bit of shape in my duck to create an eye and hat.

I don't have a specific story for my drawing/painting, I just kinda saw a duck and took the idea and ran with it. My project doesn't really relate to my life at all. My favorite part of my art is definitely the hat on the duck, I thought it'd be a little funny to add one just to spice everything up. I struggled with coming up with an idea to complete my drawing.
