For this project, we were first assigned to create a graphite value scale to help us see how all the different shades work. We were then assigned to use a photograph of ourselves, convert that photo to black and white, grid both our printed photo and our work paper; and draw exactly what we saw making sure to add texture and value to our drawing. The materials I used for my drawing was a tortillon for blending, a 2H, 2B, and 4B pencil. I started with a light outline of everything and went from there.
The elements of art I used to the best of my ability were, value and I tried to include a little texture. I tried to add value around my eyes and nose, and then try and show texture for my sweatshirt.
I don't hate how my self-portrait came out, but I definitely could've done better if I had the mental motivation to do so. I had a hard time blending my hair which is why it looks pretty much the same shade. I would definitely not mainly use a 2H pencil because like I was told, it's harder to get rid of the pencil line marks, as seen on my forehead. I 100% feel like if I wasn't drowning in other school work and had the mentality to really sit and focus on this, it would've come out 10x better.
