Extended Blind Contour Drawing

Blind Contour

Sharpies

7" x 10"

Artist Statement

For this project, we were assigned to do blind contour drawings of our hand, face, and the person sitting next to us; and then create "something" out of our pieces. At first, I tried to come up with an idea to create a "scene" with my artwork, but nothing was coming to my head. I then decided to just color in all the little shapes created from the "main ideas" of my art. There were examples in class that were shown that I thought looked cool; which is what inspired me.

The materials I used were sharpies. I used different colored sharpies to fill in individual shapes made from my original lines created.

The process I went through to create my artwork wasn't too complicated. I decided to cut up my paper to separate each individual piece because I like working with smaller projects. As I stated above, I was trying to figure out a way to make some kind of "scene" with my art, but I couldn't come up with an idea I liked; so coloring each individual shape I thought was cool because of the examples I saw in class, which inspired me.
