Creative Color Design

Color Value Scale

Final Outcome

Artist Statement

For this project, we were first assigned to paint a value scale of one primary color and one secondary color to get us practicing mixing colors and creating shades/tints. Then, for our summative project, we were assigned to create a "color wheel" and create 84 different colors. My value scale for my secondary color is definitely rough, but the outcome of my final project is cool. The materials I used for my project were paint and a paint pen to outline the flowers.

The elements of art I used in my final project were lines, color, value, and I guess you could say shape considering the shapes of the flowers. The whole point of this project was to create values of each color, and I used lines by adding a little tiny bit of texture to my flowers and by outlining them. The principles of design I created were pattern, balance, rhythm, emphasis, and contrast. I used color to create contrast and I stuck to one specific pattern painting my flowers; and by creating one flower different from the rest, I tied in emphasis. The only annoying part about this project was how long it took, but it wasn't annoying to the point I didn't want to do it, I looked forward to working on it. Each flower took an hour to finish. Besides that, I really enjoyed this project.

I do like how my final project came out a lot. I took my time and really tried to make it come out how I wanted it to come out. It was nice to do three to four flowers a day because then I got to watch Criminal Minds while ignoring my phone. This project was fun, definitely keep assigning it.
