Stars & Stripes

For this project, we were assigned to create something based on the American flag, or just incorporate the techniques used to create the American flag into our work. I decided to keep the idea of America literal in my artwork.

The materials I used were sharpies and colored pencils. I used sharpies to outline everything and fill in a few places and then used colored pencils to add color.

The process I went through creating my work was I wanted to incorporate the idea of America itself within my work still instead of just creating something I like with the stars and stripes theme; so I created someone holding a megaphone yelling the words, "you voice counts!" A lot of people, especially our age, believe that their voice isn't heard or their voice isn't "big enough" to fight for what they believe in, but anything counts.
