Artist Statement

For this project, we were assigned to first draw shapes in one-point perspective to practice for our formative room drawing, and summative hallway drawing in one-point perspective. My room drawing came out rough, it was hard for me to get a hang of how exactly to draw literal objects in one-point perspective. I am pleased with how my hallway drawing did turn out though; I chose my hallway specifically because I liked it and I thought I could add random paintings on the walls, as I did. After we drew the hallway, we were allowed to add our own unique idea to our drawing. The materials I used for my hallway drawing were colored pencils and sharpies.

The elements of art I used in my drawing were obviously lines and color. Lines made up this whole assignment obviously because almost every line leads back to the view-point. I chose my own choice of colors because I wanted to make the hallway "happy." The school hallways are boring and sad, so I chose colors like yellow and a bright blue to make it "happy." I also added flowers and butterfly paintings on the way to add some detail.

I do really like how my hallway drawing came out as I previously stated above. I expected to struggle, but I really didn't, but I did struggle with my room drawing, obviously. It was hard for me to create objects that had any curves to them. The hallway consists of just straight lines, which is why it was easier for me.
