Dear Samakee Community,

In Memoriam: Honouring the Life of Queen Sirikit

It is with deep sadness that our school community joins the nation in mourning the sudden passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. To allow our community to pay their respects, we have set up a condolence display in the school lobby, featuring a remembrance book for all students, staff, and parents to sign.

We invite all parents to join us for a special Memorial Assembly on Wednesday, the 5th of November at 8:45, as we formally gather to remember the Queen and reflect on her extraordinary life and profound contributions to the country. We hope you will join us as we honour her lasting legacy.

Education Fair

A big thank you to everyone who visited St. Andrews Samakee at the Thailand Education Fair 2025 on Saturday, the 18th of October, at the Intercontinental Bangkok

We truly enjoyed meeting so many wonderful families and sharing what makes St. Andrews Samakee such a special place to learn and grow.

Parents learned about our World-Class UK Curriculum, Outstanding BSO accreditation, and our Gold Level ISQM recognition — achievements that reflect our commitment to excellence in both teaching and care.

Y3 - Y5 SMARTs Showcase

Thank you to all the children and parents for a very successful SMARTs Showcase! It was wonderful to see how proud the children were of their work, and the effort, passion, and enthusiasm they put into their projects were truly inspiring. The showcase featured creative and thoughtful work on the topics of Ancient Egypt, Natural Disasters, and Earth Matters. Well done, everyone!

Middle School Halloween Assembly

Middle School held a spooky Halloween-themed assembly today!

Students showcased their creativity and teamwork through spooky songs and a dramatic story they had been preparing. Some even joined in the fun by wearing their favourite Halloween costumes. It was a fantastic celebration of talent, imagination, and school spirit!

Public Speaking Camp For Kids

Tomorrow, we are thrilled to welcome 36 talented young people, including students from other schools. They will be working with Chris Wright and his team to develop one of the most valuable skills anyone can have: the ability to speak confidently and persuasively in public.

Upcoming Sports Days

EYFS & KS1 Sports Day is Thursday 13th November, 9.00 am-10.30 am.
Year 3 - Year 9 Sports Day is Friday 21st November, 8.30 am - 12 noon. A fun Swim Relay gala follows this in the afternoon. This will consist of more leisurely fun house relays in the pool, and the main individual event will take place at the second Swim Gala on 22nd May.

We hope to see as many of you as possible at both of these events.

Teaching and Learning Highlights!

KS1 - Healthy Teeth

As part of our Year 1 Science topic on the human body and how to stay healthy, Year 1 & 2 children enjoyed a special visit from Miss Oil’s dad, who is a dentist! He showed the children different dental tools and explained how each one helps to keep our teeth clean and healthy.

The children learned about the importance of brushing twice a day, eating less sugary food, and visiting the dentist regularly. They listened carefully and asked thoughtful questions throughout the session.

To finish, everyone had the chance to take part in a fun hands-on activity — using real dental tools to remove pretend cavities from model teeth! This practical experience helped the children make meaningful connections to our science learning in an engaging way.

Middle School - Art Projects

Middle School students have been busy working on a variety of exciting Art projects.

Year 3 have been creating stunning natural disaster scenes using chalk and oil pastels. They've captured the dramatic energy of volcanoes and brought them to life on paper. Their work also includes interpretations of The Great Wave by the artist Hokusai, showcasing both skill and creativity. Year 4 have continued their topic on Ancient Egypt. Using oil pastels and repeating patterns, they are creating vibrant Pharaoh headdresses that reflect the richness of Egyptian culture. Year 5 have been exploring marine life, producing an impressive range of sea creatures using a variety of media, including pen, pencil, acrylic paint, and chalk pastel.

Year 4 - Ancient Egyptian Topic

In Year 4, we brought our Ancient Egyptian topic to life with a bit of drama!

To finish off our unit, the children imagined what would happen if a time traveler discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb.

They worked in groups to act out their own scenes — from the moment of discovery to meeting Egyptian gods and uncovering hidden treasures.

Year 5 - Coding with MicroBit

Year 5 Coders are CRUSHING IT! Our students have been on an awesome coding journey with the micro:bit! They started with programming basics and are now independently designing their own exciting games! Talk about future tech innovators!

Safeguarding Focus: Staying Safe Online — Top Tips for Families in November!

For our November Safeguarding Corner, our focus is on Online Safety. As children spend more time online for learning and play, a partnership between home and school is essential. Here is our first tip:

Be an 'Online Open Book'

Talk Often and Early: At home, make online activity a normal topic of conversation, just as you would talk about your child's school day. Ask, "What was the coolest thing you saw online today?" or "Did anything confusing pop up?"

Encourage Reporting: Teach your child that if they see anything that makes them feel uncomfortable, confused, or worried, they must tell a trusted adult immediately—no matter what.
