We invite you to join us for our Parents' Welcome Evening on Thursday, August 28th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.! The evening will start with refreshments and a chance to mingle with other parents and staff in the hall. After our welcome reception, you can head to the classrooms to connect with teachers and discuss the exciting year ahead.

Samakee Alum

What a delight it was to welcome back three of our own this week! We celebrated the return of three alums, including a recent graduate from Bath University, UK and two students heading back after the summer holiday to their degrees in the UK and the USA. Their visit sparked lively conversations with their former teachers and offered a glimpse into the incredible paths they are forging.

We were especially delighted to have all three students—who attended Samakee from Early Years through to Year 9—share their insights into their experiences at Samakee and their journeys in the wider world. Their interviews and many others, will be available on our new website, which launches in October.

We extend our heartfelt wishes to them as they continue to shape their futures.

End of Day Routines

We love seeing our students enjoy time with their friends and play games after the school day ends. However, once you collect your child from their teacher or the hall at dismissal time, we kindly ask that you supervise their play while on the school grounds. Our teachers have other commitments after school and are not available to provide supervision during this time.

We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a safe and happy environment for all our children. Thank you for your understanding and support!

Upcoming Events

We are fast approaching two important events in the school calendar. We do hope that you will be able to attend, as your participation is crucial for the success of these events:

Orientation / Welcome Evening for Parents

An Orientation / Welcome Evening for Parents is scheduled for next Thursday, August 28th. It will commence at 5:30 pm in the hall with refreshments and conclude at around 7:30 pm. Following refreshments and mingling, parents and teachers will adjourn to classrooms to chat and discuss the upcoming academic year. The Inclusion Centre will be open, and there is an opportunity to visit the unit and meet with Najwa Bowman and the team.

We eagerly anticipate a delightful social evening and hope you can join us.

After School Club Fair

The Samakee After School Club Fair for parents and children will be held in the hall on Monday, August 25th, starting immediately after the school day. We invite you and your child to drop by and personally explore the clubs/ECAs being offered this term. The club fair is an excellent opportunity to engage in conversations with the club leaders, gather more information, and plan your child's choices for this term!

Attendance At School

At St. Andrews Samakee, we believe excellent attendance is of utmost importance, and we actively encourage consistently high levels of attendance and punctuality within our school community.

We understand that inadequate attendance can significantly impact a child's academic performance. Did you know that lateness has a huge impact? For example, if your child is late by 10 minutes every day over the school year, that’s equal to over five days of lost learning!

Teaching and Learning Highlights!

EYFS - Calm Corner

This week in Reception we explored feelings and emotions through the story The Colour Monster. We sang a feelings song, talked about different emotions, and introduced our new Calm Corner. The children then chose how they were feeling and matched it to their names. A wonderful start to the second week back!

Forest School

This week at Forest School, Samakee children have been building teamwork and resilience, caring for worms, goats, and Pumi the tortoise, and learning how to use tools. Most importantly, they discovered how these experiences made them feel: happy, connected, and confident. And it’s only the beginning!

Year 3-9 International Dot Day

Students from Years 3-9 have made a start on a collaborative project in Art working on a piece in preparation for International Dot Day on the 15th September. They have made a great start!

Year 7/8 House of Cards

Year 7 & 8, were introduced to the 'House of Cards' this week.

Just like Europe in the lead up to WWI, this 'House' was full of tensions and grudges - some of the personalities were friends and others, enemies.

The students were introduced to the rivalries, friendships, arguments and jealousies. A complicated set of ideas brought to life with the help of some grumpy personalities!
