Dear Samakee Community,

Welcome to Our BSO Inspectors!

We are delighted to welcome our two British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspectors, who will be spending three days at the school next week.

During their visit, the inspectors will be:

Observing lessons and learning walks to see our curriculum in action across different year groups and subjects
Speaking with staff, students and parents to understand our school community and gather perspectives on school life
Reviewing our policies and procedures to ensure we meet BSO standards
Meeting with school leaders to discuss our vision, strategic priorities and self-evaluation
Examining safeguarding practices to ensure we maintain the highest standards of child protection
Evaluating our British ethos and values and how these are embedded throughout school life

The inspectors are here to provide an independent evaluation of our school and identify our strengths and areas for development. Their feedback will help us continue to improve and provide the best possible education for our students.

We look forward to showcasing all the wonderful work happening at Samakee!

A Generous Donation

We are delighted to share that the school has received a wonderful donation of two 3D printers from a family in our school community.

These printers will be a fantastic addition to our resources and will open up exciting new learning opportunities for our students across design, technology, and STEM subjects. Our students will be able to bring their creative ideas to life and develop important skills in design thinking, problem-solving and innovation.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to the family for their generosity and support of our students' learning. Thank you!

Safeguarding Awareness Week - Next Week

Next week is Safeguarding Awareness Week, and we'll be taking time across the school to reinforce the importance of keeping everyone safe.

Safeguarding Awareness Week is an opportunity to remind our whole school community that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. It's a time to ensure that all students, staff and parents know how to recognise concerns and who to speak to if they need help.

Please take a moment to read this week's Safeguarding Corner in our newsletter, where this week we focus on the Management of Medication at school.

We are highlighting the important responsibilities parents and carers have when it comes to medication at school, including:

Providing accurate and up-to-date medical information about your child
Informing the school of any changes to your child's medical needs
Providing medication in original containers with clear instructions
Collecting medication at the end of the school day

Our Safeguarding Corner is a regular feature designed to keep you informed about key safeguarding topics and school procedures. We encourage all families to read it each week to stay up to date with important information about keeping our children safe and healthy.

Teaching and Learning Highlights!

EYFS - Inquiry Through Play

One of our young learners explored a creative “matcha tea” experiment using leaves and water from the outdoor area. Through mixing, crushing, and stirring, they developed problem-solving, scientific thinking, and fine motor skills while sharing their ideas with others.

A fantastic example of curiosity and active learning in action!

Middle School Assembly - Year 5

Year 5 took us on an unforgettable journey through time in their fantastic class assembly.

The audience were transported from ancient Pompeii and the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, to the wonders of our solar system, deep underground into Blue John Cave and Lawa Cave, and through powerful moments from World War Two - including evacuation, soldiers leaving home, and learning about Hellfire Pass.

The assembly ended with an inspiring message about becoming *Sustainability Superheroes*, where students shared how we can protect our planet through renewable energy, reducing waste, and caring for our world.

Through drama, storytelling, music and confident speaking, Year 5 beautifully showcased their learning from across the year while reminding us all of the importance of protecting both people and the planet.

We are so proud of their hard work and outstanding performance!

Chess Club ECA

Our students finished the season with smiles, teamwork, and well-earned medals as they celebrated all the strategy, focus, and fun they have shared throughout the term. From learning new moves to building confidence around the board, it has been fantastic to see everyone’s progress and enthusiasm each week.

Well done to all our Chess Club students for a brilliant term!

Thai - Learning with Purpose in Upper School

In Year 9, students explored important Thai figures recognised by UNESCO, helping them develop pride in Thai heritage and understand the importance of contributing positively to society.

Meanwhile, Year 6 students researched environmental conservation and energy saving, raising awareness about the importance of working together to protect our world for the future.

A wonderful example of learning that inspires global awareness, responsibility, and positive action.

U9 & U11 Football @ KIS Reignwood Park

Well done to our U9 and U11 Football Teams for finishing the season on a high with two exciting matches at KIS Reignwood Park. Both schools showed fantastic teamwork, determination, and great progress throughout the season. The games had everything from strong defending and attacking play to brilliant goals and impressive goalkeeping saves! We are incredibly proud of all the players who represented the school this year and hope they continue to enjoy the game and develop even further next season.

Well done to our Year 9 Go-Karting Champion for his recent succes on the race track!

Well done to one of our Year 6 students for his continuing success on the Badminton court!

This week’s Artist of the Week recognises a dedicated student whose commitment and technical skill shine through in every project. Her recent work in textiles is a wonderful example of precision and creative detail. We are eagerly anticipating the debut of her final piece at the upcoming art exhibition.
