Dear Samakee Community,

Another very busy week in the life of Samakee this week.

First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who attended our parent-teacher consultations; your continued partnership and support mean a greal deal.

The energy at school this week was unmatched as we hosted day trips and two big events: our incredible Upper School Science Fair, where students showcased brilliant curiosity, and our stunning Art Exhibition. The quality of work from Early Years to Year 9 was inspiring. The exhibition also featured a fantastic art auction, and we are immensely grateful to the students and staff who donated beautiful artifacts to make it such a success.

Looking ahead to next week, the excitement continues! We are kicking things off with our annual Move-On Morning, giving students a wonderful opportunity to meet their new teachers and spend the morning getting to know their next steps. Then, towards the end of the week, we will be diving into our energetic Swim Gala and celebrating creativity at our Talent Show. Please don't forget to come along and support the students as they showcase their amazing skills!

A reminder that school is closed for students on Monday and Wednesday next week.

Parent Consultations

Thank you to all the parents who attended our recent Parent Consultations. These meetings provided a valuable opportunity for families and teachers to discuss student progress, celebrate achievements, and work together to support each child's continued growth and success.

We greatly appreciate the strong partnership between home and school and thank parents for their ongoing support and engagement in their children's learning journey.

Art Exhibition - What an incredible afternoon!

Today’s Art Exhibition was nothing short of spectacular. Our gallery was buzzing with energy, inspiration, and an absolutely amazing community spirit!

We are endlessly proud of every single student who showcased their work. The sheer creativity, deep dedication, and unique voices on display today were truly awe-inspiring. From stunning paintings to intricate sculptures, the talent in this room was undeniable.

The Highlight of the Day: The student art auction was a massive success once again! A huge thank you to everyone who raised a paddle and supported our creative community.

Samakee Library Updates

We kindly ask families to check at home for any library books and return them by Friday, 4th June.

Books not returned after this date will be considered lost and a replacement fee of 500 Baht per book will apply. End of Year Reports may also be temporarily withheld until outstanding books are returned or paid for.

Teaching and Learning Highlights!

EYFS - Growing a Love of Reading

It has been wonderful to see the children’s excitement and enthusiasm during our shared story sessions. They are developing the ability to listen attentively, engage with stories from beginning to end, and confidently share their ideas with others.

These sessions support communication, language, and social development while helping to build a lifelong love of books and storytelling.

Reception - Sensory Squishies & Maths

We explored our emotions using the story Barbara Throws a Wobbler. In line with our PSHE curriculum, the children practiced their speaking and listening skills to share what makes them cross and how to safely regulate those big feelings.

Sensory Squishies & Maths! To help us calm down, we engineered our own soothing squishy balls. Using funnels, the children carefully spooned cornstarch into balloons and drew expressive faces on them. We turned it into a brilliant maths challenge by predicting and estimating exactly how many spoonfuls it would take to fill the funnel!

Ask your little one tonight what they do when they feel a "wobbler" coming on!

Y4 Assembly - Titanic

On Friday morning, Year 4 delivered a fantastic assembly inspired by their learning about the Titanic. The students showcased their knowledge and understanding of this historic event through an engaging combination of drama, storytelling, and music. A highlight of the assembly was the beautiful performance of the Titanic theme song, played on a variety of instruments. The students demonstrated great confidence, teamwork, and musical skill, creating a memorable experience for everyone in the audience. Thank you to the parents who joined us to support the performance. Well done, Year 4, on an outstanding assembly!

Middle School SMARTs Showcase

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Middle School SMART Showcase on Thursday. Students proudly shared their learning through projects inspired by India, the Titanic, and Ancient Greece, demonstrating creativity and knowledge.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm shown by all of our students. Well done, Middle School!

Y7-Y9 The Foreign Settlements in Ayutthaya

On Wednesday Year 7, 8, and 9 students explored the rich history of Ayutthaya through visits to important historical sites, foreign settlements, and museums. Students learned about the relationship between the East and West during the Ayutthaya period and how this shaped Thai culture and society today.

A special thank you to Associate Professor Dr. Predee Phisphumvidhi for guiding and sharing his knowledge throughout the trip. It was a valuable and memorable learning experience for all involved.

Upper School Science Fair

At St Andrews Samakee, we understand that science is not only the learning of facts. The scientific method is a technique to test questions and validate those facts. Our students learn that science is a skill, and practice that skill throughout the year. Our students recently completed their science projects, where each student created a research question and designed an experiment to find the answer. Our students presented their hypotheses, described how they collected and interpeted their data, explained their conclusions, and then evaluated their mistakes. Science at Samakee is not just the facts we remember, but a whole process that we learn to do.

Reports are confidential – Please do not share your child's report with other families or compare results with other children. Reports contain personal information, and sharing them can negatively impact children's self-esteem and wellbeing.
Every child is unique – Each child has individual strengths, develops at their own pace, and follows their own learning journey. Comparison doesn't reflect our Samakee values and can harm children's confidence. What matters is your child's progress from their own starting point.
Celebrate your child's growth – Use the report as a positive conversation with your child about their achievements, what they've enjoyed, and their goals for next year. Positive conversations build resilience, self-esteem, and a genuine love of learning.
