In SAP PI version 7.1, there is a new functionality to perform SLD synchronization, as depicted below. The SLD needs to be sync up to make sure transport route from PI Development to QA and eventually to Production can be set up properly. Choosing the source system for synchronization and whether it's going to be bi-directional or single direction are crucial steps to make. Wrong decision in these steps will create disastrous result as some components of your target SLD will get deleted or changed during the synchronization.
One thing that must be carried out during synchronization and after the synchronization is to check SLD log regularly . The log will capture activities during synchronization, like when a component is deleted, or certain connection is error out, among other things. If the activities captured in the log do NOT looks right, you will have to stop the synchronization immediately before further damage was made. Just bear in mind that most of the activities are NOT reversible!
First sync will always be a full synchronization, and afterwards we can choose incremental. One thing to note though, once incremental sync hit some issue, full synchronization will be performed automatically by the system. This can be a good feature, but sometime this may pose unnecessary issue like certain link between components are missing after full synchronization is performed!
Life is beautiful! Let's make it meaningful and colorful!
