There are 3 techniques possible to perform deadline monitoring to a particular step in the workflow, those are:
1. Model Deadline with Wizard,
2. Model Deadline without Wizard, and
3. Simple Deadline monitoring
Deadline monitoring is set normally to remind the approver or requester on the work item which have NOT been acted upon when the deadline is reached. This is important if you are using workflow to govern the process to achieve certain SLA (Service Level Agreement) measures. In this document, we are going to discuss on the model deadline monitoring using wizard, which is the most recommended way to go.
1. The model deadline monitoring wizard can be found under 'Modeling Support' folder. Make sure that the cursor is placed at the step which deadline monitoring is to be set.
2. The wizard will come out, and just by answering some questions, model deadline monitoring will be set at the chosen step.
3. Container operation step and process control steps, and additional outcome line will be added to the chosen step as depicted below:
4. The chosen step will be configured with the deadline monitoring
5. Container operation step is added after the chosen step
6. The process control which will make the work item to become obsolete is added
The work item which deadline is missed will be set to obsolete (so that the agent will no longer see that in the SAP inbox), and the obsolete branch will be activated which can then be configure with step to create a new work item at another approver as the backup.
Life is beautiful! Let's make it meaningful and colorful!
