As the name imply, this is simplest technique of all three. You can use this technique in the case, you just want to send out reminder to the requester or agent of the step as the work item will still be available in the SAP inbox.
1. You can set whether you want to use 'Work item creation' or 'Workflow creation' as the reference date and time for your deadline monitoring. You can then set the time required to complete the work item. There are 4 tabs at the step which that you can use:
a. Requested start -> This is NOT for setting up an actual deadline monitoring, it's used to control as to when the work item should be created or visible to the agent in the inbox.
b. Latest start -> This is to set the deadline (time limit) for a work item up to 'executed' status
c. Requested end -> This is to set the deadline (time limit) for a work item up to 'completed' status
d. Latest end -> This is to set the deadline (time limit) for a work item up to 'completed' status
Why SAP comes up with 2 deadline monitoring tabs for 'completed' status? You can use one to send a notification to the requester and the other one to the agent who suppose to execute the work item. Or you can use one to send notification to the agent and the other one to his or her supervisor.
2. Where do you maintain the text for the notification? They are maintained at the task level, as shown below:
