Configuring SLD for SAP PI

There are several activities need to be carried out in SLD to make overall SAP PI configuration works. SLD plays an important role, as it's the place where software component version is created and later used as a container for all the repository objects. It's also the place where business systems are created and later used communication components in the integration builder.

1. Make sure that the SLD data supplier is set to true (activated). Administration->Data Suppliers.
2. Create products and their software component versions. Recommended one product for each system, with one or several software component version as necessary.
3. Make sure technical system of type 'Exchange Infrastructure' is created properly with 6 entries:
   • Domain; NO value in the Application system column
   • Integration Directory; with value in the Application system column
   • Integration Repository; with value in the Application system column
   • Integration Server; with value in the Application system column
   • Adapter Engine; with value in the Application system column
   • RWB; with value in the Application system column
4. Check whether all SAP backend systems both ABAP and Java stack is registered (run using transaction RZ70 from ABAP stack and Netweaver Administrator) properly in the technical systems. Since SAP technical system is created using registration, we will have to edit the technical systems to include their corresponding products and software component versions.
5. Create technical systems to represent 3rd party system. While creating them, make sure to include their corresponding products and software component versions.
6. Create one business system <INTEGRATION_SERVER> with role 'Integration Server' to represent SAP PI (normally client 001)
7. Create all other business systems with role 'Application System' to represent each SAP back end systems which you want SAP PI to integrate with.
8. Create transport groups <DEV, QA and PROD> and assign each business systems to proper transport group, and configure its target business systems as necessary
