I noticed that wedding photography trends have gone from quirky to elaborate over the years. This might be because of innovations in equipment allowing for novel photographic styles. Social media use is also a factor. Because weddings can be showcased for free, couples want them as worth watching as Hollywood productions.

It used to be that wedding photographers only had to angle for and anticipate lovely candid shots. Now, trends are leaning toward a staged feel for a bit of theatrics: shoots mimicking fashion editorials or movie posters are in vogue.
These are both simple and difficult to execute. On the one hand, photographers are allowed preparation time and more precise expectations as the couple chooses their pegs. On the other hand, it can be elaborate to capture the lighting, mood, and overall feel of the desired photograph. In extreme cases, bringing props is even necessary.

But it’s also an exciting time to test one’s photographic range. There is also a rise in the use of other more “raw” equipment for taking photos. Instax, old school film cameras, and outdated digicams are finding their way in modern and relaxed weddings. At some point, guests themselves would want to take photos wielding their own quirky equipment. Hired photographers can add a nice touch to their services by assisting the guests in the fun of taking their own pictures and with friends.
