When you work as a graphic designer, it's not enough that you have an eye for what's beautiful. You also have to know what is functional, informative, and even empowering. Whether we're working on packaging, posters, calling cards, and other materials, we aim to help those who will use our designs. By the way, I'm Ram Chary from Boston and I've been working as a graphic designer for a few years now. If you're also an artist, like me, here’s how the design thinking approach can help with your work: It leads you to see your project from your client's or customer's perspective Design thinking is about a user-centered approach. This means that artists should look at their work from their client's perspective. This allows them to create designs that will suit users' needs. At the early stages of design thinking, it's acceptable to only come up with questions and problems. The goal is to address these things early on to work towards finding the best solution. It encourages you to embrace different options until you find the one that suits the work best As Ram Chary the designer, I am known for having many versions of my work. Since using design thinking, I have accepted that what works for me might not really work for my clients or for those who will see my product. Prototyping is an important aspect of this process. Having different options allows us artists to pour out our creativity and stretch our abilities until we arrive at the best version of our work.
It allows you to communicate your output effectively What I appreciate about design thinking is that it allows us to understand what our project is really about. Most of the time we tend to be a bit abstract about our work. But with this approach can benefit us artists because it pushes us to explain each aspect of our design. When working as a graphic designer, this is very important as it allows clients to understand your process and ideas. Hi, I’m Ram Chary from Boston. I’m a freelance photographer and graphic artist.
