Learning Target: I can explain how social media companies try to addict us to using their services.

Warm Up: Political Cartoon: Americans Hate Social Media, But Can't Stop Using Them

Opening: Directions: After looking at today's political cartoon students will answer the questions in GoFormative.

GoFormative: Hate Social Media, But Can't Stop Using Them

Work Session: Directions: The students will watch video with questions, "Brain Hacking." A link to the transcript of this video has been provided. If students want they can follow along by reading the transcript or using it to look back for answers to the questions.

Closing: Directions: The students will ask his or her parent(s) 1) if the parents are addicted to social media and 2) who are the social media's customers. Students are then to share with their parent(s) the techniques that these technology companies use to cause us to be addicted and if the parent(s) answered question #2 incorrectly to explain who the social media companies real customers are.
