IAEA: Syrian suspect plant, bombed in 2007, was likely a nuclear reactor

An isolated facility located in the desert in Syria bombed by Israeli army in September 2007, was "very likely" a nuclear reactor, announced Tuesday the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"Based on all information available to the Agency and the technical evaluation of this information, the agency estimated that the building was destroyed at Dair Alzur likely a nuclear reactor should have told the agency, the IAEA said in a confidential report.

This is the first time the IAEA issued a formal assessment at the beginning of its investigation on this subject in 2008.
