An amoeba that feeds on human brain has killed two people this month in the U.S.. The parasite is usually found in lakes or rivers and may reach the body through the nasal passages, moving then to the brain.Christian Strickland, a boy of nine years in Henrico County, Virginia, was infected in a fishing camp and died of meningitis on August 5. Health officials confirmed this week that amoeba "Naegleria Fowler" caused death, according to Yahoo News.Also in August, Courtney Nash died from the parasite after being bathed in the river St. John in Florida.Amoeba infection almost always cause meningitis, including counting the symptoms fever, nausea, stiff neck and a bad headache.In the U.S. there were 32 cases of people infected with this parasite, in the period 2001-2010, the infection is most often fatal.
