Suraj Sharma in the 2012 film Life of Pi couldn't have got closer to Piscine Molitor Patel in Yann Martel's book.

Though from Delhi, Suraj's parents settled down in Bangalore, and it turns out that the family is related to my aunt Vesamma. So for the new year in 2015, my aunt and uncle were invited over for lunch. Suraj and his younger brother Sriharsha were at home that day. Suraj was on holiday, taking a break from his latest project. Knowing that I collect autographs, they got Suraj to sign.
