I was living in Mumbai and working in Mode, a market research agency. It was 1998, the time of Tata's new small car. People were wondering what the small car would be called.

My letter to Mr Ratan Tata had a list of name suggestions. The list didn't have Indica but I must admit that it had crossed my mind. I hadn't included it only because there was already a market research agency called Indica.

A few weeks after my letter to Mr Tata, I was excited to see a reply in my letter box. I was so impressed by the neatly typed letter that came in a Rs 2/- franked envelope with a neatly typed address. Those were the days of electronic typewriters.
