The finals of the women’s 100m at the 2015 National Games in Kerala had many of us in Mumbai excited. One of the girls who trains with the other youngsters at SAI, Kandivali (E), Rashmi Sheregar had made it to the final. Her timing in the semi-final at 11.70 sec was the best among all the runners so we were all expecting a medal.

In a closely contested final on 11th February 2015, Rashmi won the bronze with a timing of 11.87 sec. Read the report here. Not yet 17 at this point, with several years ahead of her to improve on her timing she is a good prospect for the Asian/ Olympic Games. The qualifying mark for the 100m women at the 2014 Asian Games was 11.50 sec.

I printed this picture from one of the newspaper reports and requested Rashmi to sign it for me. Slightly embarrassed at being asked, she readily obliged. She is clearly a computer buff - her signature carries keyboard symbols!
