MTV launched in India in 1996. There were roadshows and launch parties in the major cities. In Bangalore, the road show was on MG Road. Made it a point to visit. The place was full of youngsters (who else!) who had come out to see Anu Kuttoor and Rahul Khanna, the MTV VJs. Stickers, T-shirts and other memorabilia were being distributed. I got both the VJs to sign behind the sticker.
