Indira Gandhi

Third Prime Minister of India, Bharat Ratna 1971

Born: 19th November 1917, Allahabad

Died: 31st October 1984, New Delhi

One of the truest statements, "There are two kinds of people, those who do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group; there is less competition there."

My letter to Prime Minister Mrs Indira Gandhi received a reply from her Officer on Special Duty dated 4th March 1983, along with an autographed card.

The long white envelope from "Prime Minister's Office" is marked "On India Government Service" and affixed with two 10 ps and one 50 ps India "Service" stamps (totaling 70 ps). The postage required at that time was 50 ps.

It was nice to see that Mrs Gandhi had signed with her customary deep green ink, in both English and my local language Kannada.
