Sadhana Shivdasani

Actress

Born: 2nd September, 1941, Karachi, British India (now Pakistan)

One of the top Hindi film stars in the 1960s-70s, Sadhana, particularly her characteristic fringe, was a rave among teenage girls.

After I had started collecting autographs, I was always on the lookout for opportunities to add to my collection. One day, sometime in the early 1980s, at my aunt Ramani Nair's house, I found some papers and while sifting through them found this letter from Sadhana. It is on her embossed letterhead on Sunlit Bond paper, with a Santa Cruz West address. The letter seems to have been printed, and the signature in Blue is also printed. The date (11 May 1964) is a black-ink rubber stamp. Later I found out that my aunt, Ramani Nair, was a Sadhana fan and she was the one who had written to the actress.

Along with the letter were two black-and-white photographs, one with the same printed signature, and another (below) that was signed in ball-point pen. Unfortunately, someone had been naughty and had given Sadhana a beard, mustache, and other shading, which I have left as-was when found.
