My mother's cousin Rajalekshmy Nair Achath (Bibbie Aunty) was doing her doctorate in English at Pune University and won the Fulbright Scholarship, that took her to the Department of English, University of Pennsylvania. Her area of work was in African-American studies. Her dissertation was on one of the foremost African-American writers Kristin Hunter Lattany, who was the Professor of English there.
