Collaboration performance project Shelley Cooper - Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at Augustana College, Dr. Corey Trahan - Assistant Professor of Applied Voice and Theory at Northwest Florida State College and Ross Osmun - Professor of Piano and Theory at Bishop's University.
Shelley Cooper is a vocal coach, stage director, choreographer and actor specializing in musical theatre. Shelley is currently the Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. Shelley has given master classes throughout the United States and the world, including Thailand, Austria, Germany, and Brazil. She has performed, taught and directed for a number of companies such as Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Orlando Repertory Theatre, Shawnee Summer Theatre, Chicago Summer Opera, Bangkok Theatre Festival and the Venetian Macao. Her one-woman show, “La Divina: The Last Interview of Maria Callas,” has been performed on three continents. She has former students working around the world, including the Broadway production of “Holiday Inn,” NBC’s “Hairspray Live,” “The Festival of the Lion King” in Hong Kong, national tours of “Rock of Ages,” “Wizard of Oz,” “Flashdance,” “Beauty and the Beast” and the West End Revival of “Miss Saigon.” www.shelley-cooper.com

Throughout history, composers have used melody, rhythm, and text painting to depict human emotion. G.F.Handel used these tools, as well as many others, to give emotional depth and realism to characters found throughout his operatic works. Vocalists Shelley Cooper (soprano), Corey Trahan (baritone) and pianist Ross Osmun have created a performance experience that unites Handel's emotionally charged arias with society's opinions on the 5 stages of modern dating.
PRESENTATION OVERVIEW
Ross Osmun: Originally from Windsor Ontario, Canada, Ross Osmun holds degrees from the University of Windsor, Royal Conservatory of Music and the prestigious Eastman School of Music. His principle teachers were Dr. E. G. Butler (Windsor) and Professor Barry Snyder. (Eastman) He has performed nationally as recitalist, accompanist and chamber musician with important debuts in Calgary, Banff, Regina, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Quebec City, Montreal, Halifax and Charlottetown. International engagements include those in the United States (Detroit, Ann Arbor, Washington D.C., Eugene Oregon and New York City) as well as those in France, Spain, Serbia, Germany, Austria and Russia. He is currently a Professor of Piano and Theory at Bishop's University teaching piano as well as a wide range of courses including Piano Literature, Russian Music, Music Theory and Film Music. In 2008, he received the Humanities Teaching Award in recognition of his effective teaching and dedication to the student body. He has also guest lectured across Canada and internationally in Spain, Austria and Serbia and has been featured in recital on CBC Radio-Canada with Winnipeg-born soprano Melinda Enns. Before arriving at Bishop's, Dr. Osmun held teaching positions at the Eastman School of Music and the University of Prince Edward Island.

Known for his comic timing, versatile voice, and onstage charisma, he is being seen and heard internationally in repertoire ranging from operatic classics to modern musical theatre. During the 2017-2018 season, Corey performed Monostatos in The Magic Flute, Emperor Altoum in Turandot, Madame Armfeldt in A Little Night Music, Monsieur D’Arque in Beauty and the Beast and music directed Into the Woods. Recent projects include guest artist residencies at Texas A & M (Laredo), University of Southern Mississippi and Augustana College as well as stage directing touring productions of Stars of Tomorrow and the 2017 Christmas Gala for Northwestern State University. Upcoming engagements include presenting a master class at the 2018 Florida Theatre Conference, stage directing for Northwest Florida State College's summer 2019 production and teaching at the International Performing Arts Institute in Germany, Thailand and New York City. Currently, Corey is an Assistant Professor of Voice at Northwest Florida State College, Coordinator of Musical Theatre for the International Performing Arts Institute in Germany, Thailand and New York City and Artistic Administrator of Natchez Festival of Music. Corey's academic degrees include the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas, the Master of Music degree from the University of Houston and the Bachelor of Music degree from Louisiana State University. He has been an apprentice with Lake George Opera, Central City Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Amarillo Opera, Shreveport Opera and the Seagle Music Colony. Corey is a current member of the American Guild of Music Artists, Actor’s Equity Association and National Association of Teachers of Singing.
