Ruth Boden

In the lecture, Ruth Boden will discuss some methods of incorporating simple exercises into the lesson setting which address concepts such as bar chords, reading charts, and improvisation. Ruth Boden will then play some short examples of each exercise, built upon these ideas. In addition, Ruth Boden will discuss examples from the repertoire that are available to use as supplements to the standard repertoire and how to get the greatest impact when teaching these pieces. Lastly, Ruth Boden will discuss the importance that these contemporary styles play in the developing education of young cellists, and how the recognition and fostering of contemporary styles can strengthen a cello studio, recording studio, and innovative career paths for all musicians, but especially cellists.
