Big Data Online cursus

Commercial Fieldwork

Inview also carried out commercial fieldwork, which consisted of surveying customers in stores. This time not in supermarkets but in department stores and 'drogisterijen'. I surveyed customers in Bijenkorf (2017), Hudson's Bay (2017), T-Mobile (2014) and Kruidvat (2015) on a tablet. All the fieldwork I did for Inview I did as a zzp'er (entrepreneur). 

Department Stores

In the department store I was surveying customers leaving the store. Depending on what they had done in the store the survey could be very short or extensive. Sometimes the department store was real time connected to the results of the surveys and the managers could change things in the store. All the surveys were anonymous, but the store could in real time change things to level up their services. After a while the department store employees were bringing their customers to be surveyed after a purchase or after they helped them in the store to get the feedback they needed for their section of the store.

'Drogisterij'

My first assignment with Inview was to survey mothers when they were testing diapers for a 'drogisterij' in 2014. Afterwards they were allowed to take the diapers home to use on their babies. This was at the Amersfoort location of Inview. One year later (2015) there was also a survey in the 'drogisterij' itself. This was a very specific survey on a medicine that was selling through the roof in a few branches of the 'drogisterij'. I had to stand near the medicine and when a customer took the medicine from the shelf I would ask discreetly if they would want to participate in a survey about the use of this medicine. After a while I noticed that another medicine was selling through the roof instead of the one I was standing there for. I called the project manager and she called the client and they checked the sales figures. And with that and the surveys they came to know where the medicine was used for.
