As a datamanager at VUMC I had a different role than as a researcher, because I had to monitor the quality of the data and make the data accessible. I made the data accessible through Blaise, Access, Excel and SPSS. I contributed to several projects simultaneously in the position of datamanager: Generatie2, A-CaRe and Energy (EMGO+). During the period that I worked there, three articles were published in which I was mentioned.
I went from 32 to less hours, that was super because I was earning more again and working less. But I was not the datamanager that could code. Coding is essential for the extra the researchers wanted in Blaise and Access. The researchers wanted other things than the programs could do themselves which couldn't be achieved without coding. For the tasks monitoring the quality of the data, making syntaxes and Excel I was a good fit for all the projects. Also I reintegrated in this job after I was told I had had a psychosis NAO* on my journey through Russia and Mongolia (2010). The reintegration didn't go as planned so I parted ways with VUMC. I was fully working all my hours again, when I left.
*There are more diseases with the same symptoms and in my case the symptoms disappear with rest. Because I was not left alone or taken to the emergency room, there was already a bias in working. My advice is to go to all doctor's appointments alone and always connect with mental health professionals through your general practitioner or the hospital emergency department.
