For Inview I only did fieldwork (veldwerk). Inview has mostly fieldwork which is in shops or is food related at their offices. This time it was different I was going to interview tourists in Rotterdam about being a tourist in Rotterdam for the tourist office of Rotterdam (2017). All the fieldwork I did for Inview I did as a zzp'er (entrepreneur).
If the fieldwork wasn't at one of the offices of Inview I was always prepared for the weather. All the fieldwork I did for Inview were inside except surveying tourists in Rotterdam, surveying visitors and runners at the Amsterdam Marathon and surveying travelers on the station of Heyendaal, Nijmegen. When I was surveying in shops I was mostly standing after the cash registers (kassa's) or at the door were the shoppers leave the store. This meant that sometimes I still felt the weather a bit if the weather was chilly. When I was surveying the tourists in Rotterdam I wasn't lucky with the weather. It was raining and it was fresh. I interviewed the tourists anyway.
The day I was surveying the tourists in Rotterdam I was allocated a spot before the tourist office in the center of Rotterdam with another colleague. The other colleagues surveying were standing at Rotterdam CS, the airport Rotterdam The Hague and some other touristic places in Rotterdam. The fieldwork for this research was done over a period on selected days and time in 2017. I only surveyed for one day, but my colleagues surveyed more days. This is one of the surveys that was also done in other languages besides Dutch. I was allowed to interview in English and Dutch. Yes, Dutch tourists were also allowed to participate if they were playing tourist in Rotterdam. My job as a fieldworker was to interview a selection of one-day tourist and more-days tourists. It was more like an interview than a survey, because there were a lot of open questions where I had to summarize the answers the tourists were giving on a tablet. I asked the questions and while they were answering a question I was typing their answer to the question on the tablet.
