Pre-PD

In 2024 I followed the course pre-PD at Hogeschool Utrecht (HU). I got the tools to start writing a proposal for a PhD. I tried starting a doctorate through the new program of HU, but I couldn't find enough promotors. That was more than okay, because I got to talk and write a lot about the doctorate I want. This made clear to me that I still want a PhD and not a PD.

Wish To Obtain A Doctorate In City Marketing

The subject in which I want a doctorate is clear to me, city marketing. The doctorate also needs to contain the themes:

• Women friendly city

• Safety in the city

• Wellbeing in the city

• Learning from history in the city (Philips & Beguine)

• Big Data as a tool

• Combining quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Looking For Information About Organizations For My PhD-Plan

Fonds BJP granted me access to Company.info from August 1 till August 30,  2025. I used this acces to obtain information about my PhD themes and information about organizations I am interested in. I was happy with the access and made good use of it. I used the Company.info access:

• To look up information about organizations

• To look into financial information of several organizations

• To gain insight into shareholders.

No monetary transaction took place with this closed grant. I am grateful to Fonds BJP for providing me access to Company.info from August 1 till August 30, 2025.

Online Workshop 'Graven in Europese Geldstromen'

To determine whether sufficient financial data was available for analysis during my PhD research, I participated in the workshop 'Graven in Europese geldstromen'. The English translation of the e-course title is: Digging into European Money Flows. This was an online course offered by the NVJ (Nederlandse Vereniging van Journalisten, Dutch Association of Journalists). Part of the e-course was funded by Werktuig PPO. I asked them to support me in purchasing this e-course so that I can further develop my journalistic skills and use the knowledge I gained in the e-course for my PhD research. They agreed in advance to pay for part of the e-course. I paid and completed the e-course. After completing the e-course in 2025, I sent Werktuig PPO an invoice.

Recensie Gebouwen Door Vrouwen

I wrote a review of the book "Gebouwen door Vrouwen" for the website of the academic journal Historica in 2025. I was allowed to keep the book 'Gebouwen door Vrouwen'. The blog 'Recensie Gebouwen Door Vrouwen' tells more about the importance of the book.

Workshop Gemeentelijke Financiën

Because I enjoy writing and want to write more blogs and (paid) articles, I'm taking an online journalism course and several specialized courses. The Municipal Finances workshop (Workshop Gemeentelijk Financien) is one of the specialized journalism courses I've taken. This course focuses on analyzing the municipality's annual report to write articles about the municipality's finances. I already have a bachelor's degree in Business Economics, but this course pointed me to certain aspects of the annual report that I wouldn't normally consider news. I took this course with Masterclasses Financiële Journalistiek at PWC Utrecht. I paid for this course, and Werktuig PPO will reimburse part of the tuition fee when I follow two other specialized journalism courses in 2026 which I've already chosen.

Vrouwen Toegevoegd Aan Rotterdamse Architectuur

For the Dutch journal Geografie I wrote a review of the book 'Gebouwen door Vrouwen'. It was published in their December 2025 paper edition. This is the second review I wrote about this book. In the blog 'Geografie: Vrouwen toegevoegd aan Rotterdamse architectuur' I explain why I wrote two different book reviews for two journals with a completely different audience.
