When I was working at STOGO Onderzoek + Advies, everyone had lunch together almost everyday. The talks during lunch were mainly about what we did in our leisure time and on the weekends. One of my colleagues lived in Teteringen. Teteringen is a small village (dorp) near Breda. My colleague always talked about three things: he and his wife went to Lourdes once a year with her work and a number of people with disablities, the lottery win of his zip code in the late nineties of the last century and the tennis competition he was playing on the weekends, just like me. The last one contained a funny anecdote that I had to check for myself.
My colleague didn't win the 'postcodeloterij' like his neighbors, because he didn't participate and his front door was on the other side. This meant that he had to walk a bit to get to the tennis courts. I couldn't imagine how he had to walk around to turn out the lights after the tennis matches. So I went to Teteringen one Sunday to see the detour with my own eyes, like a good Urban Geographer. I saw with my own eyes that the situation is still the same: all the users of the tennis courts have to make a detour to get to the tennis courts. There is a simple solution, but the situation has never been adjusted. I was in Teteringen in April 2025 and worked at STOGO Onderzoek + Advies from 2007 - 2009. STOGO Onderzoek + Advies was bought by I&O Research in 2010 (IPSOS I&O).
