Having had my computer for nearly two years now, My Acer Aspire X1300 originally came with Windows Vista (Home Premium). After a few months, I found that my computer was eligible for an upgrade to Windows 7 (Home Premium) for just the cost of shipping of £15 - nice deal I thought so I went ahead.
To start with, Windows Vista is just a joke! The only decent thing on it was the Win-Flip using the Aero effect that comes with Vista. The sound quality of my music and games is poor and quite a few of my games that work perfectly on Windows XP, crashes when using Vista. So I thought that Windows 7 would see an improvement - did it buggery!
Windows 7 to me is just the same as Windows Vista, only a bit more thought out and modern looking. It doesn't carry none of the Windows XP technology that made it such a popular Windows throughout the world.
So, the other day, I thought 'that's it' and I have purchased a legitimate Windows XP Professional, downloaded the drivers for XP from the Acer website and actually 'Downgraded' my computer to Windows XP - and i am really impressed! It runs a lot smoother, my games work perfectly and my music plays like a dream. Yes, I have lost the 64-bit operating system (Acer doesn't have the drivers for Windows XP 64-bit) and although I have 4GB of ram memory, only 2.75GB show, it is running immaculately. I have also lost all the software packaging that came pre-built in with my Windows Vista on the computer, but have gained much more, knowing that everything I do have, works perfectly, and a hell of a lot faster, now that I have downgraded.
Long Live Windows XP!
