After about an hour, and when all the rest of the Royal party arrived, they appeared, to the absolute delight of the crowds, on the balcony of the Palace, and they kissed - twice - before going back inside.
The Duke and Duchess left Westminster Abbey in an open landau and waved to the crowds, up to one million people, on their way back to Buckingham Palace.
Catherine arrived with her father, who walked her up the aisle of the Abbey, and the wedding ceremony began. They exchanged their vows and the Archbishop of Canterbury pronounced them husband and wife. Upon becoming his wife, Miss Catherine Middleton became Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cambridge... the title of Duke of Cambridge being given to Prince William by the Queen this morning.
It has certainly been an incredible day in the life of the Windsor's, with the marriage of Queen Elizabeth II's grandson, Prince William of Wales to Miss Catherine Middleton this morning.
At 11am the ceremony began, with Prince William taking his place in Westminster Abbey, alongside his brother and Best Man, Prince Harry, waiting for his bride-to-be.
