The rescue of the Chilean miners that have been trapped underground since 5 August has begun in earnest, and at the time of writing this blog, 28 miners have been successfully rescued.
The first rescue began at around 4am GMT, and the Chilean president was there to welcome the first miner out of the 'Phoenix', the name given to the capsule that brings the trapped miners 2,000 feet up to the ground.
I must say, in all honesty, that Chile has every right to be proud of itself as a country. The miners have conducted themselves with dignity and patience, their families with faith, the Chilean government with determination to rescue them, and the world as a whole, for the sharing of their technology and expertise to make sure that all those miners were rescued in safety and their health be monitored within minutes of them being brought up to the surface.
Bien hecho Chile - estar orgullosos de sĂ mismos!
