First coalition minister resigns

David Laws, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury has resigned, with immediate effect, following news about his financial status with his gay partner and expenses within the House of Commons.

He is the Liberal Democrat member of parliament for Yeovil. He has stated in his resignation to Prime Minister David Cameron that he will start to put those he loved before his political career, however the damage has noew been done, and he has been exposed as gay as well, something he hoped he would be able to keep quiet about.

He will now go onto the back benches on the coalition government's side in the House of Commons.
