Scratching the Itch

Today I woke up with a strong urge to write and illustrate a tiny little micro-zine to give away to people I bump into at San Diego Comic-Con (or just pass out in general, for that matter). I grabbed a pen and piece of paper and set to work. it didn't take long, but I think the results of my efforts are cute and fun. My son told me, "I just read it and it's awesome!" So sweet!

Sometimes the most rewarding and fulfilling creative ventures aren't those that you spend a lot of time or energy on, but those that simply scratch a creative itch. Even if I were to just toss this little zine in the trash, just making something felt good. It was the process of creating, not coming up with a final product, that was most important.

I don't consider myself to be a skilled artist, but I am proud of my own unique style and that I simply make things. I always tell people that anything they create is special because only they are capable of making it! Others can emulate or even try to steal a style, but even seemingly-identical replicas are never quite the same as the originals.

Anyway, I'm feeling happy that I made something today! I hope people enjoy this tiny catalog of fake games.
