As a Fulltime National Serviceman, we don't get paid a lot and sometimes we just ask to try our luck. To me its perfectly fine to ask, its about the same as a student asking for a student discount at a store or a concession rate for transport. We’re not trying to be cheap, we are just taking advantage of what's available.
