All residents are expected to contribute, as they are able to the wellbeing and maintenance of the community.
To enact this charge, the CLC suggests the following as a trial for 1 year which we expect may develop of change as we begin to use it:
Mission for the Participation Teams:
To provide support, guidance and accountability for the work each resident does for our community as per our agreed upon statement. To make visible what can go unnoticed. To strengthen the ties that bind us.
This should involve the following steps:
1. Meet quarterly as a team
2. Create touches that strengthen the social aspect of the gathering. Ex.: cheese & crackers, dessert served, potluck brunch, etc
3. Ideally full attendance is expected.
4. Rotate coordinator and location
5. Create time in a circle so each resident shares his/her participation in coho work
A. Success/Challenges with this task(s)
B. Sharing of problems/solutions
C. Request help/guidance/support from the group
6. Next steps: if needed, someone on the team offers to be a mentor/partner to person, team members suggest member go to CLC for advise/guidance on what’s causing frustration, or team members help their teammate figure out a way to contribute to coho or suggest they go to CLC to find a suitable way to participate
7. A minute-taker will record and send minutes to CLC. CLC will collect minutes from all 5 teams and send out to coho resident’s
8. New coordinator is assigned role of “team coordinator” for next quarter’s meeting
Another use of our teams in the future could be to assign actual work responsibilities to each team and to suggest the teams figure out the best way to divide the work among the team and report/be accountable for its completion. This was Laird’s suggestion, which has not yet been consensed upon. The CLC imagines this could be an easy way to divide up work on a project – like a mini-work day or longer-term project.
