Selection of leaders or members of a circle
An extension of consent is that people are elected to roles and responsibilities by consent. The members of the group discuss the role being filled (term, task, qualifications), nominate candidates in writing along with a round for stating personal characteristics that match the role, reduce the number of candidates in a series of change rounds, and then have a consent round for participants to consent or object (including consent from the nominees) until there is consent. This process ensures that the group selects the person that the group believes is the best for the task and that they will support completing the task. The role description and discussion ensures that the person selected understands the group's expectations.
